Being of Service
We help ourselves when we help others. Commitments to service help us recover, and remind us that we belong to a community whose strength derives from unity and shared purpose.
Be of Service
Are you interested in adding service to your recovery program? Here are just a few of the opportunities to serve:
- The Newsletter I Can't, We Can:
Send your articles, poems and artistic contributions to the Chairperson of the Newsletter Committee at our Contact page.
- The Hotline
The Hotline carries the message to the addict that still suffers, the addict looking for their first meeting, for the way back. Calls come to you, at home or at work. You need 90 days clean and sober to share a time slot, and 6 months to have your own time slot. Send email to the SFVCA Hotline Chairperson at our Contact page for more information on how to be of service on the phone lines.
- Hospitals & Institutions Committee
If you have at least 90 days clean and sober, you can volunteer to speak at an area hospital or institution to share your experience, strength, and hope with others. If you have at least 6 months clean and sober, you can take a panel of speakers to one of these locations.
- Webservants Wanted
The SFVCA Internet Committee invites any interested web wizards (especially PHP & SQL programmers)to get involved with this website. If you're interested, email the Web Servant at our Contact page.
- OPEN Area Service Committee Chairs
SFVCA is in need of a Public Information, Central Office Archives and Ad-Hoc Committee Chairperson(s).
Commitment Requirements: Attendance of 2 SFVCA Area meetings per month (2nd & Last Mondays). Please ask sponsees, friends, and other interested members of our fellowship to make known this opportunity for commitment. Anyone who is interested should come to the next ASC/ASB meeting. - Special Events
Upcoming events that welcome (and need) your involvement are listed on our Area Events page. The San Fernando Valley Cocaine Anonymous area hosts many events throughout the year, and their success depends on active, energetic committees. You are invited to help organize, support and present any of these events... just send an email to the Chairperson of the Special Events Committee at our Contact page.
